In der ayurvedischen Küche wird es bereits seit langer Zeit getrunken und aufgrund seiner angeblich vitalisierenden und entspannenden Wirkung geschätzt. Aber was ist Goldene Milch und was bewirkt es? What is golden milk?

Golden milk, also known as turmeric latteis usually from plant milk, Turmeric, Gingercinnamon and other ingredients of your choice. The milk not only tastes delicious, but is also said to be healthy - perfect for cozy days when the weather is bad. The milk is called gold because Turmeric gives the drink a yellow-golden color. The tuber is also largely responsible for the positive effects of the power drink.

What is golden milk good for?

In Ayurvedic teachings, golden milk has been used for centuries as a Healing and cleansing super drink viewed. Turmeric as one of the main ingredients of the drink is considered a valued remedy. Together with the other ingredients, the milk is said to unfold its full effect - However, this has not been scientifically proven.

Unfortunately, there are no studies on turmeric milk that prove its positive effects. But the Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine swears by the following effects of the drink:

Golden milk - a simple recipe

You can prepare golden milk yourself relatively easily. For the basic recipe, only turmeric is stirred into plant milk as a paste or powder. Which additional spices you want to add to the golden milk is up to you. Cinnamon, ginger, pepper, coconut oil and sweeteners such as agave syrup or honey are usually used. But one spice should never be missing: Turmeric.

Ingredients: Turmeric latte

To get the best out of your turmeric drink, you should pay attention to high-quality ingredients in organic quality and a plant milk without additives.

The ingredients for a glass of golden milk:

  • 300 ml plant milk (e.g. almond milk)
  • 1 piece of turmeric or 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 piece of grated ginger
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • a pinch of pepper
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • a pinch of grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup

Preparation of the super drink

Traditionally, you prepare your golden milk as follows:

  1. Pour some water (120 ml) into a small pan with the turmeric powder and grated ginger
  2. Bring everything to the boil while stirring until a creamy paste forms
  3. Set aside the paste
  4. Heat the plant milk in a saucepan
  5. add the turmeric paste and stir well
  6. Add the cinnamon, pepper, coconut oil, grated nutmeg and agave syrup and simmer for 2-3 minutes while stirring
  7. Leave to cool slightly and enjoy the turmeric latte

Would you like to save time next time? Then it is best to prepare a little more turmeric paste straight away. The paste can be kept in the fridge for up to a week. It is even quicker if you simply put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until a fine consistency is achieved. If necessary, you can then pour the turmeric milk through a sieve. Now just bring to the boil for a few minutes and your power drink is ready.

Does golden milk have side effects?

Turmeric and the curcurmin it contains are said to have a positive effect on the body. With a normal diet, no negative side effects are therefore to be expected from the consumption of Golden Milk. An overdose is almost impossible to achieve. However, every body is different. We therefore recommend that particularly sensitive people start with small quantities. In the worst case, golden milk can cause nausea and flatulence if intolerant.
