Why is this and, above all, why do certain ingredients not have to be declared?

First of all, a distinction must be made between two terms: Ingredients are substances that are actually contained in the product. Processing aids are substances that are added during the manufacturing process but are no longer contained in the end product. Therefore, according to legislation, they do not have to be explicitly mentioned on the packaging. For example, gelatine is a popular processing aid for juices. Gelatine is a substance produced from animal proteins, which are mainly obtained from pigs and cattle. However, gelatine does not have to be mentioned on the label as it is no longer measurable in the end product.

Why is gelatine used in the beverage industry?

Gelatine can be used to clarify cloudy juices, such as the crystal-clear apple juices from the supermarket. In the case of cold-pressed juices, the cloudiness in the juice and the settling is a sign of quality. Gelatine is most commonly used in apple juice. However, there are people who do not consume gelatine as a matter of principle and therefore consider it important to be informed about it. Vegans and Muslims would not buy the product if it were correctly declared. We are therefore firmly convinced that it is important for many consumers to declare processing aids. We never use processing aids in our juice production. This is the first principle of our philosophy. In the near future, we will therefore be adding the V label (vegan label) to our cold-pressed juices.

What is Velcorin and why is it added to drinks?

It is not only gelatine that is often used as a processing aid in the beverage industry, but also Velcorin. Velcorin is a highly toxic and popular chemical disinfectant in the beverage industry. It is mainly used to kill germs. The poison evaporates after a few days. According to research, residues are harmless. Not everyone uses this substance to keep their drinks super sterile. After our research, we were very surprised by the current declaration policy and are of the opinion that anyone who uses such substances should also declare them.

LiveFresh loves cold-pressed juices.

We claim that at least 90% of all juices on the market that have a longer shelf life are heated at high temperatures and then mixed with artificial additives. We atLiveFresh consistently avoid additives & heat. We only use the natural fruit, so that the taste of our cold-pressed juices may vary slightly depending on the season and origin. We see this characteristic as a clear sign of quality, which it should be in this day and age of dishonest products.

Cold-pressed juices are 100% vegan and never heated.
