What is nectar?

In nature Nectar the sweet Flower juicewhich plants produce to attract insects such as bees. This contains sugar and plays an important role in pollination. Bees collect it and make honey from it.

In the beverage industry, however, nectar means something completely different: a drink made from Juice or pulpoften made from Concentratewhich with Diluted water and often additionally sweetened is made. Depending on the variety used, the fruit content is only between 25 % and 50 %.

Why is there nectar at all?

Some types of fruit are not easy to process into pure juice - for example:

  • Banana: too viscous,
  • blackcurrant: too acidic,
  • Mango or apricotvery intense and also mushy.

To turn it into a drinkable product, the whole thing is mixed with water - and sugar or sweetener is often added. The result: a drinkable, sweet mix that has little to do with a fresh, natural juice.

We use the following LiveFresh mango or blackcurrant, but simply use it as a fruit puree and mix it with other juices to make a delicious juice or shot, as in the Sunshine Berry or Sommer Gefühle.

Concentrate - the hidden detour

A large proportion of the nectars available on the market are not pressed directly, but from concentrated raw materials produced. The original juice is boiled down to save water - and later "reconstituted" again. Sounds complicated? It is - and it's not just about Aromabut also a large part of the natural ingredients lost.

This means that even if the label says "made from juice", it may be a highly processed original product that is a far cry from what was originally in it when it was pressed.

Nectar vs. LiveFresh-Juice - the comparison

Feature Nectar Juice from LiveFresh
Juice content 25–50 % Almost 100% in most varieties (except for a few extra light juices)
Origin often from concentrate squeezed or pureed from the fruit
Additions Sugar, flavors No added sugar or flavorings
Processing heated (pasteurized) not heated, durable due to HPP
Flavor sweet, mild, partly artificial refreshing, intense, unadulterated
Vitamin content Significantly reduced by heating is preserved through cold pressing¹

Why your cold-pressed juices are the better choice

Do you want a drink that is honest, natural and full of flavor? Then cold-pressed¹ juices with HPP technology are just the thing.

  • No concentrate - but pressed directly from the fruit or the whole fruit pureed.
  • No heatbut High Pressure Processing (HPP)which deactivates germs while preserving vitamins, enzymes and aromas as far as possible.
  • No additives - No sugar, no flavors, no frills.
  • And the best thing is: you taste the difference. We promise.

Or give your body a break straight away - start your juice cleanse for 3, 5 and 7 days and feel completely at ease.

Conclusion: Nectar is a compromise solution - you earn more

Whether banana, mango or berry: nectar turns difficult fruits into a drinkable product. But it is and remains a compromise. More water than juice, often made from concentrate, almost always heated and often sweetened - that's not what your body wants.

If you value real quality, go for juices that have been pressed directly, never heated and preserved under high pressure. Because they contain everything that counts - and nothing that bothers you.

We from LiveFresh simply use high-quality fruit puree for the fruit from which no juice can be squeezed and mix it with other juices to create a delicious and intense blend.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about nectar and juice

What is the difference between nectar and real juice?

Nectar is a drink with only 25-50% juice, plus water and often sugar. For us, "real" juice consists of almost 100% pressed fruit or vegetables - with no added sugar or flavorings.

What does "from concentrate" mean?

The original juice was boiled down considerably, the water removed and then added again later. Nutrients and flavor are often lost in the process and are added artificially afterwards.

Why does nectar taste sweeter than juice?

Because it is often additionally sweetened. Diluting it also makes the taste milder, which makes it more palatable but less natural.

Is nectar healthier than straight juice?

No. Due to water, concentrate and added sugar, it usually contains significantly fewer natural vital substances.

What is HPP and why is it better?

HPP (High Pressure Processing) preserves juices through pressure - without any heat. This preserves vitamins and natural flavor better.
